What exactly is a skin peel? Find out in Julie's Diary - Week 4

Hey everyone!!!! πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹

Its week 4 as face of Mint and what a week it's been!!
Mint had a fantastic open evening on the Thursday and it was brilliant πŸ˜„ From dermaceutic face peels to rejuvapen/microneedling treatments, to anti-wrinkle injections!! Very exciting stuff altogether!! πŸ™Œ

Before it all kicked off, I had booked in for an appointment to get my nail colour redone. Marie, one of Mints head therapists was looking after me and we had loads of different shellac and gelish colours to choose from!!! Seriously... It was so hard to make a decision πŸ™ˆ but we finally decided on a new colour called onyx. It's a gorgeous dark shiny charcoal colour. The name of this colour caught my attention as I have an onyx stone at home, which has a meaning to it, in that its supposed to give you strength πŸ’ͺ I often gave the stone to my dad when he was unwell and he was convinced that it worked lol! At least we'd like to think it did 😊 so for that reason, I was delighted with my colour choice.... My nails turned out so fab! We put some white speckles on my ring finger too just for a little bit of fun... I absolutely love them!! πŸ’…

After this I popped in for a little bite to eat in Stathams bar & restaurant in the Pembroke Hotel next door... The Cesar salad wrap was unreal by the way!!! πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜‹

Mints manager Sarah and some of the other girls were busy bees getting the salon ready for the open evening 🐝
It was a really fun atmosphere up there!  As people were arriving, they were greeted by the lovely mint girls and treated to glasses of bubbly and yummy macarons... πŸ˜‹ Very fancy! lol πŸ˜„

The night started off with a demonstration ofa Dermaceutic peel which I happily modeled for 😊 The lovely Carly is a dermaceutic specialist and before we started the treatment, we went through my history and previous homecare routine. I had been using the dermaceutic "Foamer15" cleanser every 3days with the last 2-3weeks to prep my face for the peel. This is really important to do as it works as an exfoliant, so when you do the right prep, then you get much better results as the peel can penetrate deeper into the skin πŸ‘Œ We decided that the best treatment for me would be the Milk peel which helps with fine lines, dehydration, enlarged pores and problem oily areas.

As everyone at the open evening took their seats around the treatment bed, Carly began by first cleansing my face and explained what I would feel when she would apply the peel. When she began to apply it, I started to feel a tingling sensation and a little warmth in my face but nothing too intense. I gave the feeling a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. I was given a little fan to use while the peel was on which gave a nice cooling effect and Carrie was always reassuring and asking how it felt and if I was comfortable. It's a very quick process andonly lasted less than 2minutes. The second that it was removed, the tingling stopped and she put a lovely cooling moisturizer on my face which felt lovely and almost like a balm. It was called K Ceutic cream and its great as it has a little tint in it helps reduce the pinky colour and soothes and hydrates my skin after the peel. And that was it... I was done! 😊 And my skin was glowing after it and I can honestly say I even noticed a slight difference in the fine lines on my forehead straight away. For a day or two after it, there were some dry patches that eventually shed but that's all part of it and you honestly won't mind once you see the difference it makes to your complexion. As I'm writing this, it's the fifth day after the peel and my skin is waaaaay brighter and smoother, I actually feel confident not even wearing make-up!!..... Yes that right... You read it right lol!!! and that's a big deal for me πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ Apparently you see the best results after 2 weeks so it could even get better... Whaaaat??!! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ
To get the best out of the treatments I'll be doing a course of 4-5 peels altogether and I'll keep you guys posted on how I get on. It's definitely worth looking into and its suitable for all ages really. The girls in Mint will be happy to do a consultation with you and see what suits best 😊

One of the other demos on the night was microneedling/rejuvapen. This is something I really can't wait to try!! This little "gem of a pen" uses microneedling to stimulate the collagen in your skin and literally "wakes up πŸ‘€" all those deeper lying skin cells that tend to get a bit lazy & fall asleep and stop working as we get older lol! πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€  It's the future of younger looking skin!!! Eh... Yes please!! πŸ‘πŸ‘
It has a range of benefits like:
Minimises pore size
Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
Lifts, tightens and rejuvenates skin
Improves appearance of stretch marks
Improves the appearance of scars
Improves the appearance of acne scarring
Seriously!! What's not to love about that... It does so much!!

First of all, numbing cream was applied to the lovely Iza's face and then removed and the rejuvapen was used over her areas of concern which were around her mouth. Because of the numbing cream, Iza didn't feel any stinging from the treatment, she just described it as being like an electric toothbrush brushing over your skin. Easy Peasy! 😊 Take a look on Mints Facebook page for a little video clip from the night of this being done!

Next on the agenda were anti-wrinkle injections from the wonderful Dr. Niamh Gormley 😁😁😁  Before the demonstration, Niamh explained everything you would ever need to know about it and I really learned soooo so much. I never really looked into anti wrinkle injections before and had a preconceived idea of it in my head. She explained it all so well. And showed its many benefits and how subtle and effective it can be 😊 The lovely Lucy was modelling for this and had a consultation with Niamh beforehand and went though what areas she would like to improve on. Dr. Gormley then assessed her face and decided on what amount to use in each area to give the most effective yet subtle effect. All in all, there were 15 small injections in total and Lucy said herself that she didn't even feel that many and it was over so quickly. There's a little video on Mints Facebook of this too so take a little look and see it being done on the night 😊

All in all it was such a brilliant night!!! One lady was even lucky enough to win a course of face peels πŸŽπŸŽ‰πŸŽŠ
Everyone learned loads and some even started their very own #mintjourney

See you next week,
Bye for now!!!! πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹
